Our next consult/mock transfer is all set for December at NEDC. Praying that Mat will be able to get the time off from work (he just started a new job).
We had always said that we'd set it up shortly after Daughter turned one. We thought that they booked out about 6 months, but no... just a couple! So December was actually the latest we could get as they hadn't opened next years calender!
Ideally, we'd like the kids to be 2-3 years apart. Closer to 3... maybe Daughter will be potty trained? Wouldn't that be nice!

Family pics
Many may have noticed the new header and profile pic. We had some family pictures taken a couple of weeks ago. They turned out great!

Fresh corn from the garden :)
This is the first year that we tried corn. It came along great! Once it got tall enough I just stopped weeding, hehe... but it still produced!
We've never planted corn... even though we live surrounded by miles of corn fields. The corn we planted was non-gmo (as are all things in our garden) and the stalks produce much more than the GMO stuff in the fields. Those stalks produce 1-2 cobs, ours produce 3-4! It's not round-up resistant (obviously, based on the weeds!) but it's healthier and natural. And we grew it ourselves! It was so good! I'm sure we'll have corn again tonight :)

No longer nursing
I weaned very gradually. I had been nursing about 4 times a day, and I would cut out one of those for about 5 days before I cut out the next. It worked well for us! But I ad crazy pain. I can't imagine what mother's who wean all at once go through! Yowch!
She's still sleeping through the night *knock on wood*. She had been pretty fussy at the beginning of the week (when I was still nursing at bed time) but that was because of teething.
The reactions I got were so varied. Some people would have supported me nursing longer (including the amazing Mat), and some people were weirded out that I hadn't stopped yet.
I remember when I first started nursing I had a lot of people ask me how long I was going to nurse for. The goal was always a year. We made it! But when I told some people that, they said "Good, just as long as you're not nursing a toddler, that's weird."
Um... not that weird.

Skunk 2: Mookie 1
Well it's a different skunk, being as Mat shot the first one. But yes, Mookie got sprayed again.
Swinging smiles
Sometimes when we go outside Daughter has trouble letting go of a toy. Today it was a plastic tiger :)

It's so wonderful to be her mama :)

Mat teaches our city nephews some survival
Our nephews are city boys. That's ok. To each his own, but Mat wanted to teach them a thing or two about bring prepared and country life.
He, papa, and their father (step father for the younger one) were shooting pellet rifles with them.
Those soda cans didn't stand a chance!
Then Mat was excited to teach them how to start a fire without matches. They were pretty excited about it!

The only one to actually start a fire before attention spans wore out was Mat. But they all posed with it.

We met our new nephew
We made the trek down to WI last weekend to meet our newest nephew. He's precious!
Daughter had loads of fun playing with her cousins.
On the way home we stopped by the lake to get Mookie and took a break from the car. Daughter was a trooper but she needed a break! Swimming in the lake was just the thing!

Second trip to SR Harris :)
For some reason this didn't publish when I wrote it last month... so here it is :)
We got down to the cities early for the visitation this weekend, thinking we could visit with my sister and her kids. That didn't work out so we went to SR Harris. Daughter loved it again! She is so going to be a quilter :)
